Welcome to the British Riding Clubs Area 6 Liaison Group’s website. This is a new venture for us and will hopefully help in giving members of all the Area 6 Clubs ~ as well as others visiting the site ~ added information about what is going on in our Regional area. You will find details of all the National Area Qualifier Competitions being held plus the Qualifiers for the London & South East Competitions.

There are currently 16 Affiliated Riding Clubs in Area 6, which come from the counties of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, parts of Oxfordshire and parts of Hampshire. Each Club can elect one or two members, usually from their own Committee, to be Liaison Representatives and these Reps attend the Area 6 meetings where news, rule changes, competition details etc are discussed. With this information, they can return to their own committee and take back all the information to their Clubs. We also try and help Clubs who are experiencing any problems within their membership and all Club and their Reps know that they can contact me at any time if their query cannot wait until the next meeting and they need an immediate answer, or the problem is a sensitive one.

The meetings are held as often as they are deemed necessary, more being held during the Qualifier season when details are often sought and queries can be answered. Generally the meetings are held every 6 weeks ~ 2 months..

We now also offer Training opportunities that are open to all the Riding Clubs in Area 6 and their members. These may be in the form of indoor lectures, demonstrations or specific training sessions with well-known instructors. We also organise the Judges Exam and Refresher Days for Riding Test Judges, Equitation Jumping Judges and also the Examiners Days for the British Riding Clubs (BRC) examinations. These include the Equitation Exams (which have replaced the old Grade Tests 1 – 4), Junior Equitation & Horse Welfare Examinations (which have replaced the old Junior Grade exams), Horse Welfare Exams (which have replaced the Phase exams) and lastly, the Horse Welfare 4 (which has replaced the old Stable Manager’s Certificate. For any riding club member who wishes to attain the standard required and become a Judge or Examiner, and then these are there for you.

One competition that is ours alone is the Liaison Trophy Competition. This is an inter-Club competition held at the end of each year where the members from the Clubs in Area 6, who are just starting out in Team competitions, can represent their Club by participating in Teams of Four riders in Dressage, Show Jumping, Cross Country and Roads & Tracks. All points gained are added at the end of the day, resulting in the overall winning club who are presented with a handsome trophy to hold for one year.

Area 6 is a very strong and competitive Area and well respected by BRC. We have Clubs who really care about their membership and work hard to bring them all that’s good in the Movement. This includes catering for the very novice rider and horse right through to the members who wish to compete at the highest level, and everything in between.

There is no finer training ground or place to make new friends than a Riding Club.

We hope you enjoy surfing this new website and finding out what is going on in your area in the world of Riding Clubs. But if I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
